Judith's Bedroom Suite
A commissioned suite of furniture for an art gallery owner, that had to be both beautiful and practical. This is all solid wood construction with only the cabinet’s backs and drawer bottoms out of plywood. The material is Ash with Australian Lacewood, and Wenge.
JEWELRY CHEST Sawn veneers of Claro Walnut, Black Walnut, Wenge, and Pearwood.
40h x 18”w x 16”d
Because the veneers were resawn from large triangles of lumber I first thought the the pattern would be one suggesting the hills of the Bay Area landscape, but when Iaid them out the most attractive pattern was one that suggested a kimono with the sleeves wrapping the sides and the folds cascading down the sides to the floor.

Entertainment Cabinet: specific to this room interior, veneered with vertical grain Hemlock — which has a particularly shimmery quality when the light hits it. The veneer pattern is suggestive of ice, rain, and wind. The flower pattern lattice is ventilation for the equipment. The pulls are koa.
